When it comes to gift ideas for someone special, there are a few options that everyone considers…
And no matter how much we like that shiny new watch or the seemingly limitless possibilities that an Amazon gift card gets you, in a digital age of cell phones and social media, a real experience becomes more important. For those next level gift-givers, this article is for you as we focus in on how to create a memorable experience for the one you love, with tips on how to plan a weekend to remember in Lake George, starting with Adirondack Wine & Food Festival Tickets!
INCLUDE ACTIVITIES THAT YOU BOTH WILL ENJOY
Although we shouldn’t need a holiday or birthday to show our appreciation for the ones we love, putting your personal touch on your gift makes a world of difference. A gift is traditionally all about the person you are giving it to…but who says you can’t throw in a few things that you love too? One great suggestion we have is to make summer plans to get away and pick fun activities that you both enjoy. Lake George, the “Gateway to the Adirondacks”, is the perfect place to do that!
Hiking fans? The Adirondacks have some of the best hiking trails and sightseeing in the country! Check out this LakeGeorge.com guide to planning the best hike for you.
What’s better after a hike than cooling off in pristine waters? Take a dip in the “Queen of American Lakes” at one of the many beaches dotting Lake George’s 176 miles of shoreline. One of our favorites is Million Dollar Beach located just steps away from Charles R. Wood Festival Commons, where ADK Wine Fest is held!
MAKE PLANS THAT ARE SIMPLE AND EASYGOING
Part of the reason so many love of our festival is its location! Leave the keys in your room – you can walk or take the trolley easily and explore the plethora of shops, restaurants and attractions located right in Lake George Village.
If you’re attending the festival, we already know you love Wine, Beer, Spirits and Good Food! Take a stroll down Canada Street and visit the original locations of some of our favorite local vendors that will be at the festival! Learn a bit with a brewery tour at Adirondack Brewery, test your taste buds with a wine and cheese pairing at the Adirondack Winery, head next door to the Lake George Olive Oil Co. and try out dozens of crafted olive oils of all flavors and finish it off by trying one of the unique spirits made by the folks at Lake George Distilling.
If you pair delicious food and amazing drinks, you can’t go wrong, but most importantly, keep it simple and easy going. Not too many activities, but enough to laugh and love your day away.
BRING ON THE ROMANCE!
What better way to turn up the heat than with a horse-drawn carriage ride and an evening cruise on the Lake? Always ranked as two “must-dos” when you visit Lake George, the Carriage Rides home base is just steps away from the Festival and Lake George Steamboat Company Pier. With many options, from daytime cruises to a sunset dinner cruise or an evening cruise under the stars, you’re sure to find a Lake Cruise that fits your schedule.
Here’s a tip: Keep an eye out for tickets to go on sale for their Adirondack Wine & Food Festival cruises on June 27th & 28th; the Lac Du Saint Sacrament Steamboat will feature an impressive buffet menu of foods infused with Adirondack Winery wines, and a bar menu featuring beer, wine, and spirits from our festival vendors!
THE WAY TO A MAN’S HEART IS THROUGH THE STOMACH, AND A WOMAN’S HEART IS THROUGH THE WALLET, RIGHT?
If you’re making the most of your visit by planning more than 1 night away with your significant other, we’ve got a few spots for good eats and shopping we recommend you check out as well!
Plan ahead and book an outside table on the Lakeside deck at the Boathouse Restaurant. There’s nothing better than enjoying a good meal, delicious drinks and good conversation under the open air and stars while the waters of Lake George splash in the background.
If a classic Adirondack log-cabin style setting sounds more your speed, book a table fireside at The Log Jam Restaurant – great for both lunch and a hearty dinner, they’re probably best known for their amazing salad bar and bread selection; plus they support New York Wine, too.
Where do the purse strings come in? The Factory Outlets of Lake George are located just steps away from The Log Jam. Plan some time for shopping and satisfy your sweetie by taking advantage of some great deals at the huge number of national brand stores you can find here!
THE FINALE – TAKE IN THE FULL FESTIVAL
For every special weekend getaway, there must be a finale…For us, the Adirondack Wine and Food Festival IS the finale.
We recommend making the most of the festival by snagging a VIP 2-Day Ticket before they’re gone. That way you can be sure you will be able to enjoy all our 120+ vendors have to offer, hand in hand with the man or woman you love.
And don’t worry if you are more of a beer gal or liquor guy… or if you don’t drink at all…there is something for everyone at the festival. And hey…you may even learn something. We have culinary and cocktail demos all weekend long by local chefs and mixologists that REALLY know their stuff!
DON’T FORGET!
Last but certainly not least… don’t forget to celebrate the one you love. If you’re running out of time and gift ideas, Adirondack Wine & Food Festival tickets are immediately emailed after purchase – just print them out and presto! – you’ve got the best gift in hand! Couple it with this list of things you’ll plan to do when you whisk him/her away on the festival weekend and your gift is sure to be a slam dunk!
